Content Strategist / Manager

Elefant-Tours is a successful tour operator specialising in trips to southern, central, and eastern Africa. Our team is expanding and consists of a diverse mix of travellers and adventurers. With subsidiaries in Tanzania, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, and Botswana, we are closely connected to the product. To strengthen our teams, we are looking for a:

Content Strategist & Manager

You can choose to take the opportunity to move to South Africa and work from our offices in Somerset West or Cape Town. Alternatively, we are also open to a fully remote position by arrangement. We are happy to support you in making your decision.

 

Position overview: We are seeking a talented bilingual Content Strategist & Manager (German & English) to lead our content initiatives across various platforms. You will be responsible for guiding and overseeing the content creation process from start to finish. This role involves creating a content strategy, managing strategic content creation, optimising existing content, and collaborating with our content writers to ensure our messaging resonates with our audience. All while adhering to SEO best practices and following brand guidelines.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Content Creation Management: Oversee the strategic creation of content for our websites, including blog posts and landing pages in both English and German.
  • Keyword Research: Conduct keyword research to enhance content visibility and engagement.
  • Writer Briefing: Collaborate with content writers by providing clear briefs for new content assignments, ensuring alignment with our brand voice and objectives.
  • Editing and Optimisation: Edit, fact-check, and optimise blog posts and other written content produced by our content writers to ensure high quality and accuracy.
  • Content Updates: Identify and refresh outdated content to keep our websites relevant and engaging.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyse content performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to align content strategies with overall marketing goals.

 

Your profile:

  • Destination Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Tanzania, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, and Botswana as travel destinations, particularly in safaris and mountain climbs.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficient in written English and German, with excellent communication skills in both languages.
  • SEO Expertise: Solid understanding of SEO best practices and experience implementing strategies to enhance content visibility.
  • Content Management Systems: Familiarity with WordPress and basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse content performance metrics and make data-driven decisions.
  • Team Player: Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a travel-related industry or content management role.
  • Knowledge of social media marketing and content promotion strategies.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to track content performance.
